Question:- Many people at social media keep talking about Safarish at ISSB.. and that Only candidates from the Army background or Kids of army persons are selected. This becomes a source of distraction for many ISSB aspriants. What is the truth behind Safarish at ISSB.
Answer:
The neutrality, unbiased and merit-based selection is very important for the armed forces itself than it is for anyone. The Army would not get appropriate persons if it’s selection system is compromised. Armed forces wouldn’t like to compromise their selection standards by anyone including its own members.
The ones raising this aspect may be asked a couple of questions:-
ONE: In many Government jobs, if a person dies during service his kids are offered a guaranteed job, as a matter of rule. Why Armed forces didn’t adopt to same method? Its not so in the Armed forces. The sons of Shaheeds don’t get an automatic job.
TWO: At many places like Universities, medical colleges, cadet colleges and certain jobs, we may find quota system for children of armed forces. If Armed forces wanted to select own kids, they could easily make quota system in ISSB keeping more seats for kids of armed forces person and very little for open merit. It could be done as a matter of rule. Why Army didn’t do it?
I tried to explain the system in my lecture on psychological tests. The selectors are aware that favoring unsuitable person in selection means harming Army. Armed forces are well aware of cultural problems of social problem / safarish, so they designed it in a way that such thing cannot happen.
The mentioned perception of unfair play at issb is incorrect and not based on factual selection percentages as per comparative data compiled regularly at issb.
