Interview at ISSB, is conducted by Deputy President who is a lieutenant Colonel. The duration of the interview varies considerably from candidates to candidates. Normally it may last from 15 to 45 minutes.

Before Interview
- Take good sleep, be fresh.
- Practice ISSB timings / procedure few days before going to ISSB.
- Go with good haircut and trimmed beard.
- Get dress of interview pressed at ISSB. Make sure that these are clean.
- Work a bit on confidence and body language - watch these.
- Wear clean and simple dress.
- Don't wear a dress with which you are not comfortable.
- Don't wear too loud colors.
- Dress pant and shirt are commonly worn.
- Don't wear jogger and jeans.
- Shalwar Qameez is allowed for interview. Better wear waist coat with it.
- Don't have highly military typed hair cut to impress selectors.
- Try well trimmed hair and beard.
- Use pressed clothes.
- Be fresh and clean. Wash face.
- Follow instruction of entry as told by ISSB staff (red/ green light etc)
- Don't follow academy instructions (entry in interview room), use your intelligence after listening instructions at ISSB.
- Offer Asslam-o-Alaikum on entry.
- Don't follow sit from right/ left etc on chair.
- Sit straight, don't lounge.
- Don't place your elbow on table.
- Don't be too stiff.

- Be simple, straight, sincere and honest.
- Have faith in Allah and trust in yourself
- Forget all instructions you read here and there. Be U.
- Don't focus on smiling, focus on answering.
- Don't be robotic -- sbaq naan sunain batain karain.
- Take the interviewer as a teacher, be lively.
- Be brave to admit mistakes.
- Be moderate, not critical but don't praise everything on earth.
- Move hands and face gently as needed but don't animate.
- Be sharp and present. Try not to get into a situation of,"“Sorry sir, can you please repeat”
- Avoid using the words , “I beg your pardon”
- Don't be worried, if you don't know answer to some questions.
- Be ready for surprises, take these with surprise, as if you were waiting for it.
- Its all about you, prepare / rehearse possible answers
- Prepare possible questions / answers about you - go a step ahead in thinking possibilities.
- Be sharp, be brief, be relevant, don't be story teller.
- Answer question, don't get entangled, sail smooth and clean. You are not there at ISSB to 'win interview' or 'defeat deputy'.
- Don't look in your lap,surface of the table, roof and outside window. Try to be see the man talking to you and with whom you are talking
